Summary of a Winter WOWJAM
Printer-Friendly
This year will be our FIRST-EVER Winter WOW JAM, so we're in the "process" of learning! HOWEVER, we have a vision and a plan for this wonderful day.
At
10 a.m. all team leaders will arrive, and we'll have a time of prayer
and instruction. Then, at 11 a.m. all volunteers are asked to come
out. Since the event begins at 1 p.m., we know we will have a LOT
to do to be ready to welcome our guests. Between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m.,
the volunteers will be signing in at the Registion Booth and helping to
get all things in place, then we'll have a time of instruction and
prayer. We want to be ready to welcome everyone even before the gate
opens! We'll have Parking Lot Attendants, Front Gate Workers in
place, Ticket Booth Workers, and all Teams ready to go!
Imagine . . . 100 tons of snow, 5 sled
runs, a snow play area, a beautiful Nativity Scene with live animals,
3,000 wrapped gifts for children, Christmas Trees and Christmas Lights
everywhere, the fragrance of Chili and Hot Chocolate being prepared,
the big WOW truck alll decked out, and Christmas music playing.
YOU can be a part of this scene, and part of this significance!
At 1 p.m. the Front Gate opens to this
Winter Wonderland and our guests begin coming in to find Winter in the
inner city! There will be so much for them to do, and our workers will
be escorting children and families around the area, showing them all of
the events, helping them to get tickets and food and into lines for the
fun. From 1 until about 4:30 p.m., there will be open activities -
Hayrides, Train Rides, Sledding, Fun in the Snow Play Area, Family
Photos at three locations, Christmas Presents being handed out to kids,
Disney sketches, Face Painting, Refreshments (Hot Chili, Hot Chocolate,
Pepsi from the Pepsi Truck), people visiting the Nativity Scene with
the live people and live animals portraying the event, and Stephen will
be encouraging all of this activity from the big WOW truck, drawing
people into the atmosphere of love and joy!
At approximately 4:30, Stephen will draw
everyone around the truck stage (all other activities will shut down
temporarily). There will be singing of Christmas Carols, other music
and drama, and lots of prizes will be given away (iPods, T.V.s,
Bicycles, Toys, and Christmas Trees, plus 10 totally-decorated
Christmas Trees!). This will be followed by a message and invitation to
receive Jesus!
When people respond to this invitation, we will all
move in, at Stephen's direction, to stand next to those who are raising
their hands to accept Christ. We'll pray with them, help them fill out
Salvation Cards, give them a brand-new Bible, and rejoice with
them for this special time in their lives. We'll pray for their
personal needs, for healing, and for encouragement and the empowerment
of the Holy Spirit in their lives.
After this time (the "why" we did the whole day!), we'll re-open the
activities again until 8 p.m. As Stephen closes the day from the truck,
we'll continue to walk and talk with people - perhaps going with them
to their cars to help them carry their treasures!
THEN . . . we'll see!!! The snow will still be there . . .
