WOW JAM Los Angeles: June 21 - June 30, 2008
Come out for a week filled with powerful worship, anointed speakers, practical workshops and hands on ministry to reach the lost in some of the most neediest areas in Los Angeles!
Join us, as we partner with churches and others from around the country to see lives transformed as God uses you to minister to those who need the love of Jesus, just by painting a child's face, rocking a baby, serving a hot meal, or playing games with children. You will have the opportunity to reach someone only you can reach – to bless someone and in return be blessed. Most important – you will have the opportunity to stand with someone and pray with that one to receive Jesus Christ! And, in the end, you will have made a difference in the life of "one."
The following is a brief overview of what to expect during your time with us:
Upon arriving at the airport, WOW will provide a bus or van to pick you and/or your group up and bring you to the hotel we will be staying.
Saturday evening begins with an incredible dinner followed by an orientation meeting discussing the week's expectations.
Sunday morning we are all bused to church for brunch, followed by a church service; then, we'll go to a WOW JAM site for flyer distribution. That evening will be our Kick-Off Rally, followed by dinner, then back to our accommodations.
Monday-Saturday (except Thursday). Each morning we are bused to a church for breakfast, followed by our daily activities that include worship, a speaker, workshops, lunch and a WOW JAM! That evening we are all bused back to church for a delicious dinner (and I mean DELICIOUS) and, finally, back to our home for the evening.
Thursday you will have an opportunity for some R/R. Take time to see L.A. - enjoy Disneyland, Magic Mountain, or Venice Beach. Grab lunch at the Santa Monica Pier, or stroll down Hollywood Boulevard! Whatever you decide to do remember: meals, transportation (may not be included), and your choice of activity is arranged by you in agreement with your group leader.
Saturday – the day when we witness the water baptism of all those who accepted Jesus! What a gloriaous day it will be when we bus in hundreds to the Santa Monica Pier and where everyone who served during the week all come together to celebrate each baptism!
Sunday - our last day together brings a tear to everyone's eyes as friendships were formed, relationships grew deeper, testimonies shared, and individuals are changed from when they first arrived to when they leave WOW JAM Mission Week. The morning consists of church; the afternoon, a debrief/testimony service, followed by a "Surprise" Event for everyone! The event is revealed just before loading up the buses! Previous events have included: a Dodger Game, The Hollywood Bowl, and Medieval Times!
Monday - Departure day!
Does this sound like something you'd like to be a part of? Then come on out and bring a friend, a family member, or youth group!
It's hard work, great rewards, divine appointments, and blessings from above! And we can't wait to do it all again in 2008! We hope to see you at our next WOW JAM Mission Week in Los Angeles!
Most frequently asked questions:
- Does the $800 include travel?
No, the $800 includes only lodging, transportation from the LAX/Burbank airports to the hotel and back, 3 meals a day, 2 WOW JAM t-shirts, and a workbook. It does not include your day off.
- Where do we stay and what do we need to bring?
Dormitory-stype accommodations. We will notify you if an air mattress needs to be brought.
- How do I register for my team or myself?
You may print out the registration forms from our web site. Please mail in with a deposit, per person, by April 1, 2008. After the WOW office receives your information, you are confirmed; and, in return, will receive a packet of info and items to bring. A group of 10 or more people will be given a Group Discount of 5%, upon arrival.
- What is the age limit?
We at WOW believe you are never too young to reach out to the lost! We encourage families to come, junior high groups, pastors, and so on. We do ask that you bring a sufficient number of leaders for your team.
- Can Los Angeles be a dangerous setting for young people?
Anywhere can be dangerous; however, during the past 16 years of doing WOW JAMS in Los Angeles, I can honestly say we have never encountered a situation that was dangerous for our interns. God's protection has been on every group we have ever hosted. We are also wise with our team and place very strict boundaries on where they go and where they don't go.
- Are we expected to be at all events each day?
Yes! We believe when we come together we join together as one team to serve the Kingdom of God. We worship together, we minister together, we eat together, and we work hard together. We become a force against hell to reach the lost for Jesus! However, we do out best to accommodate mothers with young children or "expectant" mothers to be!

(Also, for 2008 details, see below.)
WOW JAM Los Angeles 2007 was incredible! A week that forever changed thousands of desperate lives for eternity!
This was our 16th year of doing WOW JAMS in LA! Once again, WOW partnered with many churches including Media City Church, Pastor Rick Fry; Lighthouse Foursquare Church, Pastor Paul and Bonnie Thiemens, Crescenta Valley Foursquare Church, Pastor Scott Wood; One Church International, Pastor Toure´ Roberts, along with 18 other churches!!
We had a total of 529 volunteers for the week of WOW JAMS ~ and 148 INTERNS from around the country!
The week included flyer distribution, powerful training, worship services each morning, and a Kick-off Rally, followed by 4 WOW JAMS. The whole week ended with a massive Baptism Service at Santa Monica Beach!
This was WOW’s first year to do a WOW JAM in Long Beach. 18 churches, 164 volunteers and 4,000 people attended that day! The biggest altar call ever in the history of WOW - 1,014 people signed cards to accept Jesus! What a glorious moment! Lives will forever be changed by the love of Jesus!
At each WOW JAM there were between 3,000 – 5,000 people attending. Upon arriving at these locations, interns began setting up for the FREE WOW JAM! 35 canopies were assembled. The WOW truck was covered with toys, bikes, backpacks and more! Hot meals were being cooked, makeovers were being given to ladies, and little babies were being rocked. Bikes were being fixed and family photos were being taken.
Stephen and Linda sang from the truck, handed out prizes, and picked people to come on the truck to play games! Stephen would then preach a short but powerful message and give an altar call. Each altar call saw hundreds of people come forward, weeping and broken to say “yes” to Jesus. We prayed with them as counselors laid hands on the people. We encouraged them to go to church, read their Bible and pray. We also encouraged them to be baptized! At the end of the week on Saturday, 9 buses brought those who had accepted Jesus to the Santa Monica Beach to be baptized! What a glorious day it was as worship teams sang and 216 people were baptized!
During the week of LA WOW JAMS we saw:
278 - Bikes repaired
803 - Faces painted
535 - Family photos taken
374 - Hair cuts given
178 - Makeovers given
6,378 - Plants given out
12,380 - Burritos and chips served
1,200 - Fiesta Corn given out
1,900 - Snow Cones served
2,162 - Salvations!
