WOW Urban Ministry Institute engages emerging leaders from across the country. Men and women of all ages come together for a week, in a dorm-life setting, to join with WOW in developing evangelistic tools to reach their own inner city by using the training they receive in the New York and Los Angeles WOW JAMS. Each morning during the week over 20 workshops are presented, ranging from how to secure city permits, the dynamics of feeding thousands of people a hot meal, getting cooperate sponsorships, dealing with inner city challenges, organizing teams to meet practical needs, learning crowd dynamics, personal spiritual growth, to praying with people to be saved, and baptized in water. This prepares the interns for the many ministry teams that make up a WOW JAM. In the afternoons they apply what they learned in a real setting in the inner city with thousands of hurting people that come to a WOW JAM.

In the past several years over 2,000 interns deepened their relationship with Christ, learned effective evangelism skills, worked with teams in intense ministry, and were challenged to share Jesus with others when they returned to their home communities. Many interns return each year, desiring to go deeper in training and experiencing hands on ministry.

Top leaders have come as special guest speakers from Dr. Jack Hayford, Joy Dawson, Jim Tolle, Bill Wilson and many others that speak passionately into the young lives of the interns. It will be from this pool of young leaders that the future church planters, evangelists, musicians, administrators, and creative entrepreneur financers for ministries will emerge to carry on the work of building the Kingdom of God.

WOW International’s Best Practices

  • Initiating high yield, city-based, urban evangelism.
  • Training young leaders in an urban environment.
  • Accelerating the establishment of new churches by annually providing an influx of new converts.
  • Establishing relationships among churches in a community as they partner in this mission and continue working together in successive years.
  • Providing opportunities for-church based groups to participate in urban missions experiences.
