Summary of a WOWJAM
All teams arrive a few hours before the WOWJAM begins in order to set up and prepare. The first hour and a half of the WOWJAM is a big party. The truck is covered with all sorts of prizes. Great music is playing as people arrive from the community. They are given a free ticket to win prizes.
They’ll also drop off their bikes for repair, haircuts are given, faces painted, family photos taken, plants handed out, a big bounce house bouncing, and much, much more. Hot food is cooked and served to the entire neighborhood. Each team works very hard to serve the thousands of people. All the teams are working to serve the thousands of people that will show up. You are making relationships!
The activity focus then shifts to the truck, as Stephen starts on the stage and the activity tents shut down.
Music, games and prizes and just a lot of fun is being led by Stephen and Linda for the next hour.
You are involved in the crowd. When Stephen senses it is time from God, a powerful drama is presented followed by Stephen preaching a short, but strong message. An altar call is given and now many people of all walks of life are coming forward to receive the Lord. You are surrounded by the biggest altar call of your life!
You are needed to stand with someone as they pray to God and accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Everyone now gets in a circle of eight to 10 and sits on the grass. You are the counselor. You pray with them, give them a Bible and explain about their new life. Hot food is being cooked and served to the entire neighborhood. More fellowship and then all is cleaned up. The Sun has gone down, the lights come on in the truck, the crowd gathers around the truck to win a few more bikes.
They are encouraged to come to the big day of baptism to be held at the ocean Sunday. One last song with the air being filled with toys and Frisbees (the local churche’s address and phone number is on the Frisbee). The whole night ends with 20-foot pyros shooting off the truck and everyone goes home with a bag of groceries!
You are tired, you are sunburned, your feet hurt and you can’t wait for tomorrow because we get up and do it again!
