What is a WOWJAM Day?
IMAGINE.... Standing in the most needy areas of our city, surrounded by desperate, hopeless people and seeing it transformed into a place of peace and joy filled with peopl e of hope and destiny! This is how the power of God works through Stephen and Linda Tavani in their incredible outreaches called WOW JAMS !
The Strategy is simple. Mobilize local volunteers, churches, businesses and organizations to help throw a FREE party complete with music, barbecue, drama, games and prizes. Love people in practical ways like giving away groceries, providing haircuts, repairing a child’s bicycle, taking family photos, and rocking a baby to sleep. Then share with those people that God loves them personally, and has a distinct purpose for their life. The Results are astounding!
All teams arrive a few hours before the WOW JAM begins in order to set up. The truck is
covered with all sorts of prizes, and great music is playing. As people arrive from the community, they are given a free ticket to win prizes. They’ll also drop off their bikes for repair, haircuts are given, faces painted, family photos taken, plants handed out, a big bounce house is bouncing, and much, much more. Hot food is cooked and served to the entire neighborhood. Each team is working very hard to serve the thousands of people that will show up. You are making relationships! The activity focus then shifts to the big truck and, as Stephen and Linda start on the stage, the activity tents are shut down and teams clean up their areas.
For the next hour, there is music as games and prizes are handed out – just a lot of fun! You are in the crowd. Then, Stephen preaches a short, but strong,
message and an altar call is given. Many people, from all walks of life, are coming forward to receive the Lord. You are surrounded by the biggest altar call of your life! You are needed to stand with someone as they pray to accept Jesus. Everyone now sits in small circles on the grass. You pray with them, give them a Bible and fill out an info card. You encourage them to go to church, read their Bible, pray, and come to the outdoor baptism the next day. By now, the sun has gone down and the crowd gathers around the truck to win a few more prizes and hear one last song, then the air is filled with frisbees. As the whole night ends, hundreds of bags of groceries are handed out before people head for home . . . their lives changed forever.... and so is yours!
